11 Annoying Things Women Get Judged for—But Guys Don't
There's no denying that 2014 has been a great year for women—just look at how feminism took over mainstream conversation. But even so, let's be real: We've still got a ways to go. Case in point: some of the impossible double standards women face on a daily basis. We know that guys have it tough in some areas, too, but when it comes to attracting judgment for inane things on the regular, women take the crown. Chances are, you've probably been judged way harsher for at least one of the following things than any dude in your life.
1. Having Multiple Sexual Partners
Luckily, the "guys are players, girls are sluts" philosophy is on its way out (pause for huge sigh of relief). But women still aren't totally free from judge-y looks in response to a healthy sex life.
When a guy goes on a diet, he cares about his body and his health. When a woman goes on a diet? Cue whispers about vanity—or those more well-intentioned comments about falling victim to societal standards of beauty. Ugh, can't a girl just want to feel comfortable in her skinny jeans?
3. Being Assertive in the Workplace

4. How Your Clothes Appeal to the Opposite Sex
Do you want to know how much guys hate your favorite fashion trends? No? Sorry, that won't stop people everywhere from making sure you know exactly what dudes think of your high-waisted shorts.
5. Having Body Hair
Show us a male feminist who has been applauded for his revolutionary, intelligent, and sensitive stance, and we'll show you 50 female feminists who have been called angry, shrill, and over-emotional. Womp.
7. Being Career-Centric
If you're a high-powered career woman, someone has likely suggested you're too career-obsessed—or worse, that you're neglecting your other "womanly" responsibilities, like starting a family or being a good wife. Nope—you just love and care about your job. #sorrynotsorry
8. Being Overweight
To see the crazy disparity between how people regard men and women who weigh a few extra pounds, look no further than the "cute chubby guy wins hot model-esque girl" movie genre.
9. Not Wanting Kids
The way women are shamed for choosing not to be mothers, you'd think some people saw them as baby-birthing machines. Oh, wait.
10. Being Muscular
Sure, some definition on women is good, but don't bulk up unless you want an endless string of comments about how it's unfeminine (say idiots everywhere).
